Literacy

Autumn Term

Our first text for the new school year is the Michael Morpurgo version of Beowulf to fit in with our Anglo-Saxons work in history. This is always a popular text and I am looking forward to the discussions and pieces of writing that will come from this story. As always in Y5/6, there will be a strong focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar throughout the year and we will continue to produce extended pieces of writing for a range of purposes and audiences. We will start with a character description of the monster, Grendel, which I am sure the children will enjoy.
