Welcome back Year 4!

I am super excited for this year and hope you are ready for all the fun, new and exciting learning we will be getting up too! 

Adults supporting your child in class throughout Year 4 will be Miss Bours, Miss Shields and Miss Wakefield.

General information

Homework

• Please read with your child daily at home. Please record this in their reading records and ensure they are bought into school everyday.
• Timestables practice daily with TT rockstars. 
• Spelling shed
• Dreambox maths

Supporting children these online tasks and games will support their development and progression. Childrens log ins are stuck in their reading record, enabling them access at home.

PE

• Our PE days are Monday and Friday. Children are expected to come into school in PE kits on these days.

Belongings and clothing

• Please make sure all items of clothing are named.
• Children should be in approprate uniform and black shoes. Please remind children that shirts should be tucked in.
• Please bring a water bottle to school daily which your child can refill throughout the day. Children should have water and avoid bringing fizzy drinks or juices into school.
• If children would like a snack from school, please provide a labelled purse/wallet with the money in and children will collected this from the dining hall during break.

English

In English we will be retelling the story of The Firework Makers Daughter, looking at poem structures and using adjectives, verbs and nouns to make a creative piece of writing. In our reading sessions, we will be exploring Kings of the Sky and Selfies with Komodos.

Maths

In maths we will be looking at place value and calculation skills through addition and subtraction and applying number knowledge and stratedgies to solve problems and equations. We will then be broadening our multiplaction skills through practicing the 3 , 6 and 9 times tables. 

Science

We will be working scientfically to explore different rocks and how they are formed as well as forces and magnets in the second half of the term. 

Art 

We will be discovering how and why our ancient ancestors made art, experimenting with natural materials to make homemade paints and using light and dark media to paint on a range of surfaces. 

PSHE

Whilst reminding childen of our STAR values daily, we will also be looking at making healthy choices and connecting with others, understanding how we can respect others.

Music

In music we will get to learn the guitar and create a piece of music with our fantastic music tutors.

History

In history we will be learning all about Stone Age Britain and how and why early humans moved to Britain. We will be looking at the changes and challenges they faced and what life looked like for them. 

French

In French we will be looking at greeting others and counting to 30.

Computing 

In computing, we will be connecting networks and connecting with others.
